🔥 The Hot Stuff Frenchies Breeding Method: From Stud to Snuggles

Hot Stuff Frenchies Logo French Bulldog puppies and English Bulldog puppy

At Hot Stuff Frenchies, we take French Bulldog breeding seriously—focusing on health, structure, and successful litters every time. With over 21 years of experience and USDA licensing, our breeding process is proven, ethical, and backed by science.

Here’s our step-by-step process, from selecting the right stud to raising your Frenchie puppies safely using tools like the Puppy Safe Portable Incubator and NuVet Vitamins.

🧬 Step 1: Find the Perfect French Bulldog Stud Based on Your Female

It starts with an honest evaluation of your female:

  • Is she lacking in bone, pigment, or head size?

  • Does she need better structure or temperament?

We select a stud that complements her weaknesses. At Hot Stuff Frenchies, we specialize in healthy well structured French Bulldogs with great DNA such as Big Rope Fluffy, Rojo, New Shade, Lilac and Tan, Blue and Tan, chocolate and tan, platinum. Just to name a few.

📈 Step 2: Track Ovulation with Progesterone Testing

To improve litter success and size, we use progesterone testing to pinpoint ovulation. This test tells us when the female is actually fertile.

Report all results to the stud owner—this keeps communication and planning on track.

💉 Step 3: French Bulldog Breeding Breeding Options:

  • AI (Artificial Insemination) – most common

  • TCI (Transcervical Insemination) – (I don't use this method)

  • SI (Surgical Insemination) – I use this method if i use an outside stud that requires me to ship semen.

Once progesterone numbers are right, proceed with the planned breeding.

🦴 Step 4: NuVet Vitamins – Year-Round & Especially During Heat

Our Frenchies are on NuVet Plus year-round, but when a female comes into heat, we increase to 2 per day and stay consistent until puppies are weaned.

NuVet supports:

  • Hormone balance & healthy cycles

  • Fertility, implantation & fetal development

  • Strong immune support before and during pregnancy

🍼 Step 5: Begin Puppy Formula Around Day 30

Around day 30, begin adding puppy formula to mom’s food. This preps her body for nursing and provides added calcium and nutrients to support growing pups.

🩻 Step 6: Sonogram at Day 35 – To Confirm Pregnancy

At day 30 to 35, schedule a sonogram (ultrasound). This is used to:

  • Confirm pregnancy

  • Detect fetal heartbeats

  • Check uterine health

⚠️ Note: Sonograms are not accurate for counting puppies. For a rough count, a vet may perform an X-ray after day 55.

📆 Step 7: Monitor Temperature Starting Day 55

Start checking your female's resting temperature twice a day from day 55.

  • A drop below 99.5°F usually indicates labor is 24 hours away

  • Normal temp range: 101–102

Combine this with reverse progesterone testing for accurate C-section timing.

  • French Bulldogs are pregnant 58 to 60 days from ovulation.

🔬 Step 8: Reverse Progesterone Testing

Reverse progesterone testing confirms labor is near:

  • Safe C-section range is when levels drop below 2ng/mL

  • This avoids delivering too early or too late

It’s one of the safest ways to protect both mom and puppies.

✂️ Step 9: C-Section Delivery – Safer for Frenchies

All French Bulldog litters should be delivered by planned C-section due to their body structure.

We work with experienced veterinary teams to ensure your female delivers safely, stress-free, and under professional care.

🧊 Step 10: Transport Puppies Safely in a Portable Incubator

Newborn Frenchies cannot regulate body temperature for the first 2 weeks of life.

After the C-section, puppies are transported in a Puppy Safe Portable Incubator, which provides:

  • Warmth, oxygen support & humidity control

  • Safety from temperature shock during transport

🏠 Step 11: Use the Home Incubator for Week 1–3

Once home, we move the litter into a Puppy Safe Brand Home Use Incubator. It includes:

  • Temperature & humidity controls

  • Emergency backup heater

  • Built-in nanny cam for monitoring

  • LED light

  • Oxygen Support
